A huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone for showing such amazing support for our friend, Stuart Ferguson, and his wife, Lyn.  The two reunion concerts at Club Passim on February 24 were packed -- and each concert was over two hours long and full of great fun, conversation and music.  Introducing the shows and sending love to Stuart and Lyn was Robert Haigh, who was the MC back in the day at the Old Vienna Kaffeehaus in Westboro (where so much of the Boston folk scene came together in the late 80s and early 90s).  A huge shout out to Josh Kantor, whose off-the-cuff accordion playing added something truly special.  Other than singing two of Stuart’s songs and one of Lyn’s, we did not repeat anything, so each show had its own distinct flavor. The immense feeling of support in the room was unbelievable.  And beyond the benefit concerts, many of you have contributed directly to the Ferguson Family Fund, for which Stuart and Lyn -- as well as Heather and all of us End Construction guys -- are immensely grateful.  This is a long, hard road for them, and the support makes a tremendous difference.

Stuart and Lyn could not be there in person but were able to see the shows on Concert Window.  For those of you who do not know Stuart, the message he posted on his web site will give you some insight into the remarkable person he is:

"I lack the words to adequately describe how it felt to watch the shows on Sunday and the previous benefit show in January while I was in the hospital. I've been trying to process the incredible support that both Lyn and I have had since we first found out just how ill I was last July. I'm overwhelmed by it. So much of what we see coming at us each day on TV and the internet reminds us of the terrible things that people can and will do to other people. That is in direct contrast to the world that I've been living in these past eight months where every person that I have come in contact with has found some way in which to help me whether it was their job, they are a friend, or they are a stranger becoming a friend.

"Our lives are so precious. Each day is a chance to start over and find the new experiences that will shape us as we continue on our journey. Sunday was a day that won't soon be forgotten. It was exhausting, exhilarating, intense and joyful. I will leave you with a quote from Jimmy Valvano. For the uninitiated, Valvano was a college basketball coach at North Carolina State from 1980-1990, and coached the team to the NCAA championship in 1983. In 1992, Valvano was diagnosed with bone cancer, which quickly metastasized. He gave a speech at an ESPN awards show in March 1993 shortly before he passed away. Below is an excerpt from that speech:

"'To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something special.'"

Big love & thanks,
